Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 for Mac is now in private preview. This is the first release of the Visual Studio 2022 IDE for Mac users with a refreshed, fully native macOS UI. Interested users can signup here to try it out, and share their feedback to Microsoft before the next major release of Visual Studio for Mac.
You can run Visual Studio 2022 for Mac preview side-by-side with earlier versions of Visual Studio for Mac, and it is free for all users.

The first release of Visual Studio 2022 for Mac focuses on:
- Improving IDE performance and reducing crashes with a new fast and fluid native macOS UI.
- Taking advantage of more of macOS’s built-in accessibility features.
- Updating the experience to feel more familiar between Mac and Windows.
Microsoft said that they are now working on a list of known issues which need to be fixed before the release of public preview. They have also mentioned that those future previews will also include changes such as a new preferences UI, tool window drag and drop, and a Git branch selector in the status bar.
