Back in April 2021, Microsoft announced the next major release of Visual Studio IDE (Visual Studio 2022) and said that it will be available as a 64-bit application. That means that the next version of Visual Studio will no longer be limited to ~4GB of memory in the main devenv.exe process, and allow you to build the most complex solutions without running out of memory.

Visual Studio 2022 System Requirements

  • To run Visual Studio 2022, you should be running a system with a 1.8 GHz or faster 64-bit processor. Microsoft recommends a quad-core or better processor.
  • You should have at least 4 GB of RAM.
  • You should be having a minimum of 850 MB of available space. It may take up to 210 GB depending on the features installed. A typical installation requires 20-50 GB of free space.
  • Make sure that you have a video card that supports a minimum display resolution of 720p (1280x720). Visual Studio will work best at a resolution of WXGA (1366x768) or higher.
  • When it comes to the supported operating systems, Visual Studio 2022 can run on Windows 10 version 1909 or higher, Windows Server 2016, and Windows Server 2019. Make sure that you are running the 64-bit version of the operating system.
