Microsoft announced the release of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21301 from the RS_PRERELEASE branch. The build is now rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. With the latest Windows 10 build, Microsoft adds some refinements to the touch keyboard design and some other improvements.
If you are a Windows Insider, in the Dev Channel, can grab the build through Windows Update. If you are not on the Insiders Dev channel yet, can sign up via the Windows Insider Program settings tab.
With the latest Windows 10 Build 21301, released to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel, Microsoft adds some improvements to the touch keyboard design. The updated touch keyboard will now switch to the small keyboard layout when you undock it. It will also allow you to easily move the keyboard around using the gripper region.
Based on the default keyboard layout, the small and split layout will now have an updated symbol's view. For improved clarity, the settings menu will have a nested structure which will reduce the clutter.
Microsoft also added a new password feedback icon to the left of the space bar when you are in a password field. Some Insiders may also see updates to the default keyboard layout on 12" or larger screens with the keyboard having a more traditional keyboard layout featuring an ESC, Tab, and Windows key and other small tweaks
, Microsoft said in the Release Notes.
In addition to the above refinements to touch keyboard design, Microsoft also added the following improvements to Windows 10 preview build 21301:
- We made a change so that when you right-click locally saved files displayed in jump lists, in addition to Open you will now have the option to Open File Location.
- We updated our N'Ko keyboard layout to add access to currency and some other symbols by tapping the keys along the top row of your keyboard while holding the Shift key.
- We updated the Touchpad on/off toggle under Settings > Devices > Touchpad such that it no longer requires admin privileges to change.
- We updated our backend dictionaries to help improve spellchecking and text prediction relevance.
