Windows 10 build 18312 includes Reserved Space, improved Windows Subsystem for Linux, updated UI for Reset this PC and more

Microsoft released new Windows 10 preview build 18312 to the Windows Insiders, who are in the Fast Ring. This build includes Reserved Storage feature, which will get enabled based on when you complete the reserved storage quest.

In addition to this, there are some additional improvements included in Build 18312. This includes improvements to Reset this PC, new command-line options to the Windows Subsystem for Linux.

Earlier this week, Microsoft detailed about the Reserved Storage feature, which will retain about 7 GB of disk space for the updates to install smoothly. According to the Release Notes, the Reserved Storage feature will be introduced automatically on PCs that come with 19H1 pre-installed or on PCs where 19H1 was clean-installed.

Insiders upgrading to the latest preview build 18312 can experience this based on the completion status of this quest. Those who completes the quest before installing fast ring build 18312 will see it immediately after upgrading to this build. Those who completes this quest after installing the build 18312, will see it in the next Windows 10 19H1 build.

With this Windows 10 Insiders Preview Build 18312, Microsoft tweaked the Reset this PC User Interface (UI). The new UI provides a more consistent experience across devices with different configurations and requires. You can access it from Settings | Update & Security | Recovery.

Microsoft also added a new command line options to the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) command line tool (wsl.exe) for easier WSL management. You can now import a distro for easy sideloading to non-system drives and export your WSL distribution for simpler environment management.

Along with these, the test build also includes few changes, improvements and fixes for PC. There exists some known issues too which you can find in the original Release Notes published by Microsoft.
