Microsoft started rolling out the next major upgrade release of Windows 10. They named it as Windows 10 April 2018 Update. This new update focuses on features like Timeline, Focus Assist, Microsoft Edge improvements and many more.

The most common and easiest option to get the Windows 10 update is via the Windows Update page. But in case you didn't get the update notification, you can do a force check by following the simple mentioned steps below:
- Open the Windows 10 Settings app.
- Navigate to the Update & security page.
- Click the Check for updates button. This will start searching for update availability and start downloading it (if available).
- Once downloaded, it will start pre-installation process. It will ask you to restart the system to complete the installation process. Click on the Restart now button to begin the upgradation.

If you are facing difficulties downloading the Windows 10 April 2018 Update via the Windows Update page, you can use the Update Assistant Tool. Follow the below mentioned steps to download the tool and begin with the upgrade check:
- Visit the Download Windows 10 page.
- Click the Update now button to download the Update Assistant Tool.
- Once downloaded, double-click the
Windows10UpgradeXXXX.exe
file and click the Update now button.
- Click Next to begin the upgrade process. This will be enable if your device is compatible.
- The process will start downloading the installation files. Once completed, follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade your system.
- Click on the Restart now button to begin the upgradation.

How to get it using Media Creation Tool?
It's an alternative way to upgrade your system to Windows 10 April 2018 Update. This will give you option to either upgrade the system or create an installation media (USB Flash Drive, DVD, ISO Image) for offline installation. You need to download the Media Creation Tool in order to begin with. Follow the steps mentioned below:
- Visit the Download Windows 10 page.
- Click the Download tool now button to download the Media Creation Tool.
- Once downloaded, double-click the
MediaCreationTool.exe
file.
- If you want to create an installation media (USB Flash Drive, DVD, ISO Image), click the second option Create installation media (USB Flash Drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC.
- To update the same system, select the first option Upgrade this PC now.
- Click Next to proceed next.
- Click the Accept button to agree to the terms of uses.
- In the Ready to install page, make sure that the Keep personal files and apps option is selected. This will make sure that, your personal files and applications will remain intact while upgrading to latest version.
- Click Install button to begin with the installation process.
- At the end, it will ask to restart your system. Click on the Restart now button to complete the installation/upgrade process.

While performing the upgradation process, make sure that you have enough free space on your system. Also, check your data bandwidth as it will need to download a good amount of data. After your system upgrades to the latest version, you will see that the version no. changed to 1803.
Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803) comes with a set of new features, that includes Timeline, New Sharing options, and new settings pages including the Fluent Design in the Start menu and Settings pages.
