YouTube is the most played streaming sites, where you can watch movies, videos and listen to video songs. Playing it in the foreground is a limitation to the free users, which can be withdrawn by paying a monthly or yearly subscription.

 

But what if you don't want to pay, and still want to play it in the background? There's a cool trick (if you have Android), and we are going to discuss it here.

If you don't have an active subscription to YouTube of YouTube Music, but still want to play the songs in the background, follow the steps mentioned below. You must be on Android mobile device for the trick to work.

  1. First of all, install VLC for Android on your Android mobile.
  2. Open the california llc video that you want to play in the background.
  3. As shown in the below screenshots, click the Share button, and tap Play with VLC. This will open the video on VLC. It may take some time to load the video in the VLC player. If it fails in first attempt, try 2-3 times.
  4. Click the share icon on YouTubeClick play with VLC media player

  5. Once the video starts playing in VLC media player, click the three dots (ellipses) as shown in the below screenshot.
  6. The VLC media player menu will open on the screen.
  7. Now click Play as Audio, as shown below. This will start playing the media as audio only mode.
  8. You can now navigate to other application, keeping the VLC running in the background. You will see that the media is playing in the background, even after locking the device.
