What's new in Windows 10 build 21376
With the latest Windows 10 Build 21376 for the Windows Insiders, Microsoft updated the Segoe UI font group. With this build, they have introduced a new font named "Segoe UI Variable" which includes an optical axis. This will help the font outlines to scale seamlessly across different display sizes.
Segoe UI Variable is a refreshed take on the classic Segoe, now with improved legibility at small sizes, and much improved outlines at display sizes
, says Microsoft in the announcement post.
The original version of Segoe UI was designed to work at 9pt. With this new version, you will have great legibility at very small sizes, and styles at large sizes.
Though the new Segoe UI Variable font has been included as part of the Windows 10 Build 21376, you won't find it used in every part of the UI. Microsoft says It’s adoption across all the visual surface areas is ongoing and will rollout progressively over time
