Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta (formerly known as Facebook), has announced a new feature rollout on WhatsApp that will make it easy to start and join an audio/video call. The feature is known as "Call Links", which can already be found in other apps like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.

WhatsApp introduces Call Links feature for Audio, Video calls

WhatsApp is launching the 'Call Links' feature to allow friends or families to easily join an audio or video call. Using this feature, the video call links can be sent to specific people on their WhatsApp accounts in advance. As a result, the invitees can participate in the audio/video call directly by clicking on the link at the specified time.

The most significant aspect of this feature is that even if you are unable to participate at a certain time due to any reason, can still get the opportunity to join even when the call is going on.

WhatsApp said that the Call Links facility will be added within the Calls tab. As a result, users can easily use this facility to send a call invitation as well as participate in video calls.

This feature will be available in the latest version of WhatsApp running on Android and iOS operating systems. According to the company, the service will be launched this week.

The improved video calling feature

In addition to the Call Links facility, WhatsApp is also introducing the possibility of video calling with 32 people simultaneously. Once the service is activated, you can easily talk to friends or families as well as group members on video calls. Currently, WhatsApp allows you to make audio calls with 32 people simultaneously. Meanwhile, the feature is being tested by a Meta-owned instant messaging service.

  • WhatsApp video calls are now the easiest medium to connect to loved ones.
  • In July, WhatsApp rolled out a new feature that allowed users to join a group audio/video call even after it has started.
  • WhatsApp said that the ‘Call Links’ feature will reduce the burden of answering a group call as it starts.
  • If someone in your group misses a call when the phone rings, or drops out in between due to any reason, they can rejoin as per their convenience time.
