Microsoft Edge to get site pinning, annotation, full screen support in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

Along with Windows 10 Insiders Preview Build 16215, released to Fast ring Windows Insiders, Microsoft added many new features for Edge browser which will be available in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update later this year.

Before the features are ready for final release, let's discuss what's new improvements are being added to this insiders build.

Microsoft pushed core three new features to Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 build 16215 and they are: pinned sites, support for full screen mode, annotation improvements for PDF documents on Microsoft Edge. Let's discuss more on these features:

Pinned websites

If you visit a set of websites very often, you can now pin those to the Windows taskbar for easy access. It will use the site’s icon to give you quick access to your favorite sites directly from the taskbar.

You need to simply select the 'Pin this page to the taskbar' from the settings menu of the Microsoft Edge browser and that will take care of the rest. Here is an image shared by Microsoft on this feature. Check it. You will definitely love this.

Support for Full Screen mode

Like other browsers, Microsoft Edge will now support Full Screen mode. With this build, Microsoft introduced this feature for a better experience of browsing with Edge.

To enter into the Full Screen mode, you need to press the 'F11' key or choose the new Full Screen icon from the Settings menu. When you don't want, you can easily exit the Full Screen mode by just pressing the 'F11' key again, or by clicking the Restore icon present at the top-right corner.

Annotation Improvements on Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge already received support for reading PDF documents. Now, Microsoft has added the ability to annotate the EPUB Books by highlighting in four different colors, underline any text and add comments to anywhere. To get started, select some text and choose an option from the Microsoft Edge menu.

To add notes, you can select the text, tap or click the 'Add a note' button and insert your note. To edit or delete your note, click the 'Edit your note' button.

Other Improvements to Microsoft Edge

Apart from these new features in build 16215, Microsoft also added many improvements to the browser and here is a list of those:

• You will now be able to close the Microsoft Edge app directly using the close button, even when a JavaScript dialog is shown to the screen.
• There is a new option to 'Add tabs to favorites' from the right-click context menu on tabs. Using it will create a Favorites folder with all the sites open in tabs in the current window.
• Microsoft Edge’s splash page (seen when newly launched) so that the color transitions more smoothly to the Start and New Tab pages.
• New tabs will now animate more smoothly onto the tab bar when opened and closed.
• Session restore behavior has been improved so that when a multi-window Microsoft Edge session is restored by clicking on a link, the window in focus at the end of restoration is the one containing the new link.
