Microsoft has released another new build of Windows 10 to the fast ring users of Windows Insiders, numbered as 10547. This new build introduces new features and improvements, as well as bug fixes. As this is a preview build, it definitely has some known issues and already mentioned in release posts by Gabe Aul.
This post is just an announcement along with the features list, list of fixes and known issues. Before going to download via the Windows Update, check out the issues list.
At the end of August, Microsoft released Windows 10 preview build 10532 and after that build they released another preview build 10547 for the fast ring users of Windows Insiders. In a blog post, Gabe Aul, the head of Microsoft's Windows Insider program announced the availability of the new build. If you are a Windows Insider and currently on the Fast Ring track, check out the Windows Update settings page to get the download notification.
Improvements to Tablet mode: When in Tablet mode, you can now snap apps to left and right from the Task View, replace a previously snapped app with another and swipe down to close an app. This is mostly like what we had in Windows 8.
Object RTC in Microsoft Edge: For developers, this build also includes a preview of Object RTC in Microsoft Edge. The ORTC APIs enable real-time audio and video communications directly inside Microsoft Edge without the need to install any plugins.
Text input panel improvements: The text input panel now expands as you write to provide more space in Latin languages. When you are in tablet mode or have an external Surface keyboard attached, the text input panel no longer opens automatically. Apart from that, additional punctuation support has been added to the suggestions bar to make entering punctuation characters easier. Lastly, improvements have been made to help the suggestions be more relevant.
Improvements to Start: The default tile groups on Start is to have 3 columns of medium sized tiles in prior versions of Windows 10. Microsoft now added the ability to have a 4th column as well, so now you can have two wide or large sized tiles side by side in a group. In this new build, you can enable this by going to the Settings app –> Personalization –> Start and enable the “Show more tiles” toggle button as shown in the below screenshot. Also, the Start now supports tiles up to 2048; earlier it was limited up to 512 tiles only.
Many app updates: Many app updates have been already released. Make sure to check the Store for updates and send your feedback on these updated apps to Microsoft via the feedback app.
Other improvements: You can now turn off the Windows background picture in the sign-in screen if you want. You can easily do this by going to the Settings app –> Personalization –> Lock screen and turn off the “Show Windows background picture on the sign-in screen”.
Microsoft has reportedly fixed a number of issues and the list has been published by Gabe Aul in his blog post. You can find the list below. Did it solve your problem?
As this is a preview build, it is still in development phase and thus it has some known issues already reported by Microsoft. So, before downloading the new bits, you must read this and take the decision whether you really want to download and try it out. Here is the list of known issues published by Microsoft, but you might also encounter some other bugs which you should report them if you face:
