#Windows 10 for mobile build 10536 available for #WindowsInsiders

Gabe Aul, the head of Microsoft's Windows Insider program, in a blog post today announced that Microsoft has started rolling out Windows 10 for Mobile build 10536 for the fast ring Windows Insiders. If you are already part of Windows Insiders and in the fast ring, check out the phone update to get the notifications.

Before going further to update your device, you should first know what has been fixed and what are the known issues in this build. This post will detail those referring the announcement made by Gabe Aul.

If you are following the Twitter feed of Gabe Aul or following my Facebook Page, you might already know that, the build was supposed to release last week but at the 11th hour, Microsoft decided to stop this build to air as they detected one major issue related to update process and they decided to fix it before pushing to the valuable Insiders.

Today finally, the build has been aired to all the fast ring channel of the Windows Insiders. If you are one of those users and want to upgrade to the latest build, go to your phone Settings and check for Phone Updates. You will get the notification of this new build as 10.0.10536.1004. Before starting the download process, make sure to read the Known Issues and the Fixes part of this build.

What are the Known Issues in mobile build 10536?

As it is a developer preview build, it will definitely have issues. Some of them are known, some are unknown. Microsoft has already released a list of known issues, whereas they are also looking forward to know about the issues which are unknown to them and caught during your day to day activities. If you face any kind of issues, don’t forget to report them. Here is a list of known issues currently available in this build:

• After rebooting your phone, you won’t see notifications, such as new messages. To resolve this issue, after the successful upgrade, lock and unlock your device. After that, you should see notifications for new messages just fine.
• “zStorage” appears in the Settings app under System and clicking on it causes the Settings app to crash.
• Camera upload to OneDrive may not be enabled based on prior settings. To fix this, make sure you are running the latest version of OneDrive by opening the top left navigation bar, then settings on the right to verify that camera upload is turned on and you have the latest app (version 17.2).
• Insiders will not be able to move from Slow to Fast rings temporarily. Microsoft is working on a fix but in the interim to move a device from Slow to Fast you will need to use the Windows Phone Recovery Tool to first start on Windows Phone 8.1 and opt directly into the Fast ring.
• Additional languages for speech and keyboards won’t be available until tomorrow (15th September) and will error if you try to download. If you already have languages for speech and keyboards downloaded to your phone prior to upgrading, they will remain and available to use.

 

Important Notice for users updating from build 10512

Insiders updating from build 10512 will have to update their device twice. First you will see build 10514 and build 10536.1000. Once you run all these updates and install them, you will receive another update which is build 10536.1004. This process will take a bit more time than usual but this update has all the important fixes for build 10536. Hence make sure that you install BOTH the updates though it might eat your internet bandwidth in the download process.

Alternatively, if you are concern about your internet bandwidth and if you don’t have a problem going back to Windows Phone 8.1, you can update directly to this build (10.0.10536.1004). Improvements in this build since the last one

Microsoft has published a list of improvements they have made in this build since the last one aired to the Windows Insiders and here is those directly from the announcement made by Gabe Aul:

• Insider Hub is now included again!
• Mobile hotspot functionality has been fixed.
• Voice input has been updated to add support for Japanese and English (India) speech recognition.
• Single hop updates are again available from Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview for all devices.
• Two-factor authentication is fixed when setting up a device for both text and phone authentication.
• Start screen will successfully load instead of failing with “Loading …” displayed in a loop until device was rebooted. (We are still tracking down an issue were it may show “Loading …” for a few seconds.)
• Quite Hours\Do Not Disturb has been fixed.
• Delay in showing date and time on Lock screen has been improved.
• Pinch and zoom in Maps now works as expected.
