Microsoft is now adding a new personalization feature to Microsoft Edge (Chromium) browser. The new feature will allow you to apply custom accent color to the browser window. As this feature is still under preview, it's hidden under an experimental flag. You must enable the feature to show up on the browser settings page.

 

With the latest Edge Canary build 89.0.731.0 or newer, you can turn ON the new accent themes feature. Here we will show you how to enable the feature and apply the accent color theme.

Microsoft releases a new build of Microsoft Edge (Chromium) for the Edge Insiders in the Dev channel. The latest build version 89.0.723.0 is the first Edge 89 build rolling out in this channel. The latest build includes some new features, better reliability improvements, and a list of bug fixes.

 

Though there are no major features introduced in this build, it added the ability to run an on-demand scan for leaked passwords and an option to have downloaded PDFs open in the default PDF reader are some minor key features that you would like in it.

Microsoft released a new Dev Channel build of its popular Microsoft Edge (Chromium) browser to the Edge Insiders. The new Edge build 88.0.685.3 comes with support for pre-rendered new tab pages on Linux, and support for the management policy to Configure Friendly URL Format.

 

Apart from these two new added features, Microsoft Edge build 88.0.685.3 in the Dev Channel also comes with several bug fixes. You can find the complete changelog of the build below.

Microsoft Edge is finally getting the History and Open tabs sync feature with Chromium Edge version 88. As the feature is currently rolling out to a limited set of Edge Insiders in the Canary channel, you can now see the options to enable the sync if you are one of the lucky users.

 

The feature is currently rolling out for Windows, and Mac users. Upgrade to Edge Canary build 88.0.682.0 or higher to check if it has been enabled for you.

Microsoft is experimenting with a new feature called "Startup Boost" that will start a set of Microsoft Edge processes in the background to have a faster experience to launch the chromium-powered Edge browser on Windows 10 from desktop, taskbar icon, and links within other apps.

 

Though the Redmond giant didn't give any commitment by when the feature will arrive in the stable build, you can experiment with the feature right now if you are running Edge Insiders build.

Microsoft announced that the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser is now available for Linux users. The company said that they will provide weekly updates in sync with the Dev Channel on other platforms, and as this is still in the early preview state, you may experience bugs or unexpected behaviors.

 

This version of Microsoft Edge supports Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and openSUSE distributions of the Linux operating system. Edge Insiders in the Dev channel for Linux can download it and start providing feedback to Microsoft.

Microsoft added a new security feature to the Chromium-powered Microsoft Edge browser that will protect you from malicious websites while surfing the net. Using the Microsoft Defender SmartScreen service, Microsoft implemented this feature to Edge 87.

Microsoft is currently working on a new privacy feature for the Chromium powered Microsoft Edge browser, that will allow you to show or hide the "Reveal Password" button next to the password fields. When you have a privacy concern, you should hide the button by simply turning OFF a settings.

Earlier this month, Microsoft started rolling out a new feature called "Web Capture" to a very limited set of Edge Insiders in the Canary build. The latest version of Microsoft Edge (Chromium) not only alerts you when it finds your credentials leaked somewhere in the Dark Web, but now also suggests you a random, strong, and unique password when you visit a site to create a new account.
